Manchester United is in dire need of attacking reinforcements after a challenging season, with creativity in the final third being a major concern. As the club looks to bolster its squad, one of the names linked to a potential move to Old Trafford is Nico Paz. The young Argentine has impressed in his debut season at Como under the management of Cesc Fabregas, showcasing his talent with six goals and six assists from 23 starts in Serie A. His ability to play in multiple attacking roles makes him a valuable asset, fitting INEOS’ strategy of targeting young players with high potential.
However, the Red Devils are not the only club keeping a close eye on Paz. Premier League rivals Arsenal and Tottenham, along with Italian giants Inter Milan, are also reportedly interested in securing his services. Despite the growing competition, Manchester United faces an even bigger obstacle—Real Madrid. The Spanish club inserted both a sell-on clause and a buyback option in Paz’s contract when they sold him to Como. Reports indicate that Real Madrid plans to trigger the buyback clause in 2026, meaning any club looking to sign him this summer will have to pay over £50 million. Even if clubs are willing to meet that price, Paz himself is reportedly focused on proving his worth at the Bernabeu and may not entertain a move elsewhere.
Sources suggest that Real Madrid has already informed interested clubs that the young midfielder will not be available in this transfer window. The club is keen for him to continue developing in Serie A before making his return to Spain. Given Paz’s ambition to succeed at Madrid, it appears unlikely that he would opt for a Premier League switch despite the growing interest from England.
For Manchester United, pursuing Paz could prove to be an unnecessary distraction, especially given the club’s urgent need for a clinical striker and the financial constraints they are currently facing. Engaging in a bidding war for a player Madrid fully intends to reclaim in the near future might not be the wisest move.
Moreover, there are reports that Real Madrid is still looking to retaliate after missing out on Leny Yoro to United last summer. With this in mind, it may be best for INEOS to redirect their focus elsewhere, perhaps toward alternatives like Kenan Yildiz, who is also on the club’s radar.
