Report: Eagles hire new interior defensive line coach.

The Philadelphia Eagles are hiring former Tennessee Titans quarterbacks coach Bobby King in a similar role in Philly, according to a report from Tim McManus.

The Eagles previously interviewed Green Bay Packers coordinator Joe Barry and former Jacksonville Jaguars defensive coordinator Mike Caldwell for the LB coaching opening, but they were hired elsewhere. Barry joined the Miami Dolphins as their new linebackers coach/running backs coordinator, while Caldwell joined the Las Vegas Raiders in the same title Barry held. King is a bit of an unexpected addition, although he does have ties to the current Eagles staff.

Here is an overview of his coaching experience:2010 — Dallas Cowboys Assistant Coach/Defensive Quality Control Coach2011 — Houston Texans Defensive Assistant2012-2013 — Houston Heroesant 4 Assistant Coach Coach14-44-ton Texans Assistant Coach14-44-ton 44 201 8 -2020 — Houston Texans Defensive Line Coach2021 — Houston Texans Defensive Line Coach Season 2022-2023 — Tennessee Kingnia on three lines with 4 Die backer Sirinia. King also significantly coached Zach Cunningham, who received praise from Howie Roseman at the Eagles’ postseason press conference from 2017 to 2022 (excluding 2021).

Cunningham will become a free agent in March, but perhaps that salary points to his return in 2024..

Needless to say, the linebackers for the Eagles had a very difficult season. D.J. Eliot, the former LB coach for the Eagles, wasn’t the only one at fault, but it was obvious that the group didn’t see him as a part of the answer. We’ll watch to see if King can make more use of the skill that has been provided to him.
