REPORT IN: Yankee’s Top hitter anticipating a return to solid form in 2024

The 2024 season is when the New York Yankees are hoping to see a great return to form from DJ LeMahieu. Despite suffering an injury on March 16 after fouling a ball off his right foot, he hopes to be included in the Bronx Bombers Opening Day lineup on March 28 when they play the Houston Astros.

Even though he hasn’t yet returned to the field, LeMahieu believes he is improving. He has been exercising in the weight room and going through rehab.

LeMahieu stated, “I’m making progress, so hopefully, I’ll be ready to go.” Right now, I’m just sort of slowly going through baseball stuff, mainly stuff from the training room. However, I’m making an effort to exercise as much as I can to keep prepared.

After a dismal 2023 season, LeMahieu was determined to start again before becoming hurt. During spring training, he was hitting the ball hard, and Aaron Boone, the manager of the Yankees, and a few of his teammates noted his regular line-drive hitting.

LeMahieu missed some of the 2022 and 2023 seasons due to lower body problems. Although he felt stronger in the second half of last year, he did not perform to the level he had anticipated.

LeMahieu was limited to 136 games in the previous year and 125 games in 2022. Last year, he hit.243/.327/.390 with only 44 runs batted in and 15 home homers.

This season, LeMahieu is expected to play third base for the Yankees. He is looking forward to a good year, assuming he stays healthy.

“I think I can really help us in the leadoff spot when I’m going,” LeMahieu remarked. “I’m just delighted to be part of this lineup in general—more excited to be part of this lineup than in a little while,” the artist said. “We’ll just kind of see how the lineup works out.”

The Yankees, with Aaron Judge, Anthony Rizzo, and Juan Soto in the middle of the lineup, have a great chance to have an offensively productive season in 2024. If LeMahieu is able to score runs for the team’s sluggers, he is likely to be a key player at the top of the New York hitting order.

Although Gerrit Cole, the starting pitcher for the Yankees, will begin the season on the injured list, he understands how important it is for DJ LeMahieu to be healthy.

Cole remarked, “He obviously has tremendous power and opposite-field ability, which plays really well in our stadium.” He was a great leadoff hitter because of his seasoned leadership, keen sense of pitch placement, and ability to drive in runs. It would be really beneficial for the Yankees to watch him flourish in the leadoff position.

Throughout his career, LeMahieu has earned two batting crowns and four Gold Gloves, making him a three-time All-Star. The 35-year-old has played in the major leagues for 13 years and has spent five of those years with the Yankees.
