The Green Bay Packers have a lot to be excited about going into the 2024 season. Specifically, the offense in Green Bay put on a show as the season came to an end. The young weapons surrounding Jordan Love continued to improve as the season went along. Christian Watson, Dontayvion Wicks, Romeo Doubs, Jayden Reed, Luke Musgrave, Tucker Kraft, and Aaron Jones proved to be more than enough weapons.
However, news surfacing regarding wide receivers going is nothing but good news for the Packers.
This off-season is shaping up to be the off-season of wide receivers, with the market poised for significant growth. Currently, Tyreek Hill holds the title of the highest-paid wide receiver at $30 million per year. However, extensions are expected for standout players like Justin Jefferson of the Minnesota Vikings, Ja’Marr Chase of the Cincinnati Bengals, CeeDee Lamb of the Dallas Cowboys, and Amon-Ra St. Brown of the Detroit Lions. Additionally, impending free agents like Tee Higgins and Michael Pittman could further elevate the market.
Anticipate a substantial surge in wide receiver contracts, potentially pushing the market from a true $30 million per year to as high as $35 to $36 million per year.
How Does This Impact The Packers?
The Green Bay Packers have bolstered their wide receiver corps in recent drafts, selecting Christian Watson and Romeo Doubs in 2022, and Jayden Reed and Dontayvion Wicks in 2023. When healthy, all four receivers have demonstrated their ability to contribute significantly to the Packers’ offense. With the wide receiver market on the verge of exploding, the Packers are not under pressure to shell out exorbitant sums to retain their offensive weapons around Jordan Love.
In fact, aside from the running back position, the Packers are well-positioned for multiple years at all key skill positions surrounding Jordan Love.
