REPORT: Raptors are connected to LeBron James’ son Bronny

The Toronto Raptors have been linked to LeBron James’ son Bronny, according to a recent story by Shams Charania of The Athletic.

The Raptors might have up to three picks in the future draft, including as many as two first-round selections, if they don’t make any moves between now and the 2024 NBA Draft.

Given that Toronto already holds the pick of the Detroit Pistons, the team’s lone second-round selection is likewise expected to come in the early rounds. With an 8-46 record, the Pistons now have the worst record in the league, but they are only one game behind the Washington Wizards for the No. 14 seed in the Eastern Conference.

Another team that has recently been linked to the younger James is the Los Angeles Lakers. According to reports, the squad is willing to acquire him to appease the elder James.

In the recent University of Southern California defeat to University of Colorado Boulder, the younger James did little to improve his draft stock. Even though he only played for 14 minutes, the 19-year-old finished with just two points, two assists, and one rebound on a 1-of-2 shooting night.

Given that the Raptors are starting a new chapter and would probably love to add as much young talent as possible, it seems sense that they are apparently scouting the younger James.

With more than 50 games played, the Raptors appear to be among the worst teams in the Eastern Conference for the 2023–24 regular season. The Pistons, Wizards, and Charlotte Hornets are the only three conference clubs with a worse record than the Raptors (19-36).

Scottie Barnes, who will play in Sunday’s All-Star Game, has been one of the team’s few shining points this season. In his third NBA season, the 22-year-old is averaging 20.1 points, 8.1 rebounds, and 6.0 assists per game while shooting 35.3 percent from outside the arc and 47.3 percent from the field.
