REPORT: Seahawks hire Offensive assistant Coach

Presumably, the Seattle Seahawks won’t be in a position to select one of the top quarterbacks in the 2024 class.

But with Seattle’s most recent coaching hire, rumors of a possible move up for Geno Smith’s replacement—assuming they don’t think he’s the long-term solution—may carry a little more weight.

On both sides of the ball, Mike MacDonald, the new head coach, is still assembling his staff.

As far as the draft is concerned, his most recent offensive play could be seen as fascinating. According to Mark McClune of Phoenix’s KPHO, the Seahawks are bringing on Zak Hill as an offensive assistant.

Former Saguaro Coach Zak Hill has been hired by the #Seahawks as Offensive assistant / quality control. Hill led the Sabercats to the 6A state title last year and was headed to ALA Gilbert North to be the AD.

Hill, originally from the Pacific Northwest and a former quarterback at Central Washington, most recently served as the head coach for Saguaro High School in Arizona.

While he lacks NFL coaching experience, Hill has notable collegiate experience as an offensive coordinator at Boise State and Arizona State, where he worked closely with quarterback Jayden Daniels.

During Hill’s tenure at Arizona State, Daniels emerged as the team’s quarterback before transferring to LSU, where he achieved Heisman Trophy success in 2023.

If the Seahawks were to pursue Daniels in the upcoming draft, they would likely need to make a significant move up from their current 16th overall pick.

Considering Seattle’s pressing needs on both offense and defense, it seems unlikely that they would invest heavily to acquire Daniels. However, Hill’s connection to Daniels could spark speculation as draft discussions intensify.
