REPORT: Southampton prepared to offer a former Tottenham player £15 million if they are promoted.

In the summer, Sunderland hopes to emerge victorious in the competition to sign outstanding player Jack Clarke.

With 15 goals and 4 assists in 33 league games thus far this season, Clarke has shown promise in the Championship.

He scored a goal against Birmingham on Saturday, demonstrating his importance to Sunderland. After struggling at Tottenham, he is allegedly eager to try his luck in the Premier League once more.

That would entail leaving the Black Cats, who are now four points out of the play-off spots in the league standings and ranked 10th under Michael Beale, if they are not promoted this season.

The Sun claims that Southampton, who want to automatically advance, are prepared to put up a £15 million offer for Clarke in an attempt to entice him to the south coast.

In 2019, Clarke, then eighteen, left Leeds, who had recently lost in the Championship play-offs to try and make it to the Premier League, to sign with Tottenham for a reported sum of around £10 million.

According to Christian Horner, he fully supports his wife Geri Halliwell.
However, things didn’t work out in North London, and after failing to play in the league for Spurs for three years, he permanently moved to Sunderland in July 2022.

Before relocating permanently to the Stadium of Light, he was on loan at QPR, Stoke, Sunderland, and Leeds throughout his stint with the team.

After being relegated last year, Southampton has high expectations of returning to the Premier League right away under Russell Martin.

With a game remaining, the Saints sit two points behind Ipswich in second place and the final automatic promotion spot in the Championship table.

Many Premier League teams are reportedly interested in signing Clarke as well. West Ham was reportedly tied to a January bid that fell through.

Lazio has apparently expressed interest in the former England U21 player, and Brentford and Crystal Palace are among his other major admirers.

Tottenham is rumored to have a 25% sell-on clause in place for Clarke, which might raise the price that is paid for him.

In 2022, Clarke signed a four-year contract to play for Sunderland.
