REPORT: Spurs HC Gregg Popovich makes a prophetic statement about Victor Wembanyama’s future
Victor Wembanyama of the San Antonio Spurs put up yet another amazing stat line on Sunday night, leading head coach Gregg Popovich to make an audacious prediction about the future of the young talent.
According to Popovich, “He’s going to show us things that none of us have ever seen before,” as reported by Spectrum News 1.
Wembanyama ended with 33 points (14-of-26), 15 rebounds, seven assists, and seven blocks in a 122-115 overtime victory over the Brooklyn Nets. He is the first player in NBA history to record more than thirty points, fifteen rebounds, five assists, and five blocks in a game while shooting at least fifty percent.
Even with his age and experience, Popovich and his players have long considered Wembanyama to be a great talent. But the other players have noticed too; Damian Lillard is the most recent veteran to call him a “star.”
“Even though it feels like it’s little by little, every game, when you do it everyday, after a whole season it’s adds up to something big,” Wembanyama stated.
It’s impossible to predict what Wembanyama will achieve in the end throughout his NBA career. But when it comes to the possibilities, he has already captivated the interest of basketball fans and his Hall of Fame coach.
