REPORT: Stoke City considering replacement for Steven Schumacher.

In December, Stoke City made the decision to bring Schumacher to the Bet365 Stadium. He took over for the outgoing incumbent Alex Neil at Home Park after an incredibly successful spell at Championship rivals Plymouth Argyle.

Nevertheless, since the managerial transition, the Potters’ fortunes have not changed. They had lost four straight games until their much-needed victory over relegation-threatened QPR on Wednesday night.

Unbelievable rumors regarding Schumacher’s future at Stoke City have now surfaced.

Football Insider reports that despite the pressure easing following Stoke City’s recent victory over QPR, manager Schumacher is reportedly “fighting to keep his job.” The club has been contemplating potential replacements, with Gareth Ainsworth being among those considered. Ainsworth, aged 50, became available after leaving QPR earlier in the current season.

Since Schumacher’s arrival at Stoke City, there have been questions about the team’s performance, and their struggle to improve has raised doubts about his tenure. Despite being in charge for barely two months, many argue that he deserves more time to turn things around.

The timing of these rumors is notable, coming right after a potentially significant victory. The suggestion of potential replacements may not aid Schumacher’s efforts to boost morale and build on the recent success.

Considering Ainsworth as a replacement would also spark interest. He demonstrated exceptional motivational skills at Wycombe Wanderers and effectively managed with limited resources. However, his stint at QPR was less successful despite guiding them to safety last season.

Only time will reveal whether these rumors will materialize into any concrete actions.
