REPORT: Why Milan prefers Feyenoord striker over Sesko, Zirkzee, and Guirassy

According to recent sources in Italy, Feyenoord striker Santiago Gimenez is the leading prospect for Milan’s vacant no.9 position, while other choices such as Bologna’s Joshua Zirkzee and Bundesliga forwards Benjamin Sesko and Serhou Guirassy have become less realistic. Why Milan prefers Gimenez. Of the four strikers associated with Milan in recent months, Gimenez appears to have the greatest negotiating room. He is still worth between €50 million and €60 million, however no exact price is guaranteed by a release clause.

In comparison, Sesko, who is now tied to RB Leipzig, has a €65 million release clause in his contract, which will likely be too expensive for the Rossoneri, especially with Arsenal and Chelsea vying for his signature. According to Milannews, the Zirkzee option has become less appealing in recent hours, as his representatives are apparently demanding a substantial commission fee, estimated to be between €10m and €15m in addition to his €40 million release clause. New Bayern Munich coach Vincent Kompany is also thought to be interested in re-signing Zirkzee, which might put an end to Milan’s chase, since the Bavarians have first refusal on the 23-year-old.

Another player connected with a move to Milan is Stuttgart’s Guirassy, who scored 28 goals in 28 Bundesliga outings in 2023-24. However, there are concerns that he outperformed his usual ability this season, and that his goal-scoring numbers may not be sustained. As a result, and based on the most recent developments, Gimenez appears to be the Rossoneri’s best choice right now.
