Reports from Rams first-ever STEAM day at SoFi Stadium: Legend Isaiah Johnson in attendance
The inaugural Rams STEAM Day was held at SoFi Stadium by the Los Angeles Rams in collaboration with QuidelOrtho, their official partner.
Through interactive activities and stimulating workshops centered around Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Mathematics (STEAM), the ground-breaking event aimed to empower and inspire 600 local youngsters.
In addition to offering memorable experiences that emphasize the value of STEAM education and its practical applications, Rams STEAM Day aimed to show high school students in Los Angeles that jobs in STEAM are fascinating, applicable, and reachable regardless of one’s background or skill set.
“Partnering with the Los Angeles Rams to bring the first SoFi Stadium STEAM event to life, was an incredible opportunity for QuidelOrtho. Getting to see over 600 middle school students from Inglewood and Compton Unified School Districts explore SoFi Stadium through the lens of Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts and Mathematics, and leave with a better understanding of what a career could look like in these industries, was truly inspiring,”
said the Erin Bijas, Senior Manager of Global Marketing at QuidelOrtho. “An added bonus was showcasing how our company fits into the world of STEAM as a leader in the medical diagnostics space and how we work with the Rams to elevate our brand.”
In order to engage with youngsters and share his enthusiasm for STEAM, Rams legend Isaiah Johnson attended the event. Following his retirement from the NFL, Johnson continued to pursue his passion for technology and wellness. He spoke to the groups throughout the day on the value of putting in a lot of effort in the classroom, took part in football exercises on the field, and listened to business leaders with the youngsters.
“The Los Angeles Rams STEAM tour at SoFi Stadium was an unforgettable experience,” said Johnson. “Walking through such an iconic sports and entertainment venue alongside a group of eager STEAM students was incredibly rewarding. Their excitement to explore career opportunities with STEAM concepts was truly inspiring.”
Students had the chance to take part in interactive STEAM exhibits that featured several aspects of SoFi Stadium, such as the Rams locker room, the playing field, the data center, the Infinity Screen, and the nearby lake, thanks to this special event. Through a dedicated art session, students heard from QuidelOrtho’s industry specialists and investigated the creative engineering and design of SoFi Stadium.
Johnson concluded the day breaking down a huddle of students in the Rams locker room and leaving them with the message, “STEAM the dream.”
