Reports: Reports suggest uncertainty surrounding Portland Trail Blazers coach Chauncey Billups.
Rumors surfaced online Wednesday regarding the coaching situation with the Portland Trail Blazers, specifically focusing on Head Coach Chauncey Billups. Chris Mannix of Sports Illustrated unexpectedly provided an update, indicating that other teams are keeping an eye on Billups’ status in Portland. This comes shortly after the Blazers decided not to renew the contracts of some assistant coaches, including Billups’ brother, Rodney. Mannix’s tweet suggested that if Billups were to part ways with Portland, he could quickly become a candidate for coaching positions elsewhere.
Blazers reporter Sean Highkin also echoed similar rumors, adding credibility to the speculation. Billups joined the Blazers in 2021 under a five-year contract, with the last season being a team option. As of now, there hasn’t been any official announcement regarding the team exercising this option.
During his three-year tenure as head coach of the Trail Blazers, Billups has amassed a win-loss record of 81-165. This stint marks his inaugural coaching role in the NBA.
