Richard Keys unveils his significant play-off “regret” and makes a “shameful” revelation about Coventry City.

Richard Keys is embarrassed to say that he left the room when Wolves tied his beloved Coventry City, certain that the Premier League team would eventually defeat their Championship rivals.

Naturally, the Sky Blues gave up a second goal, but they pulled off the greatest comeback ever, turning the FA Cup quarterfinal on its head with goals in stoppage time from Ellis Simms and Haji Wright, sending them to Wembley and a semifinal matchup with Manchester United. Even though Keys still feels bad about the play-off final from the previous season, he is certain that his “glass half empty” mentality has contributed to some of City’s success throughout the years.

The FA Cup was a competition that definitely required a revitalization. It got it this past weekend. And in some style,” he said in his once-weekly blog post. “Out of the four quarterfinal matches, three were intense battles. Outstandingly amazing. Coventry and Wolves established the standard. I watched the game with Andy (Gray) at beINSPORTS since we weren’t working till later in the day.

To be honest, I walked out of the room after Wolves equalized. We’re done for, I reasoned, knowing they’d get another chance. Yes, I am aware. It’s shameful, but these days I can’t handle too much stress. I’m becoming older.

Over the years, it has also happened to me that positive things happen after I leave a match in which Coventry is engaged. It worked when Gus Hamer gave us an equalizer against Luton at Wembley in May of last year. It would have been better if I took a stroll during the gunfight. That will always bother me!

Once more. Yes, I am aware. It’s a bunch of b*****ks, but it does the job. Anyhow. Amazing things happened after that. I’m very happy for Mark Robins and the guys. He is an excellent operator, as I have stated numerous times. He merits another moment in the spotlight.

“Chelsea supporters were driven to distraction by their team (again), but at least they made it,” the speaker continued. Really, it’s unfortunate. I thought we could beat Leicester at Wembley!

“And even though United made the most of the gifts that Klopp’s team gave them, Liverpool should have won easily in overtime.”
