A source verified on Friday that Janae Kent, a guard for LSU women’s basketball, has signed up for the NCAA transfer site.

Kent is already the second freshman to transfer out of the Tigers’ top-ranked 2023 class. On Monday, point guard Angelica Velez became the first to enter her name into the gateway.

Illinois native Kent, a 6-foot-1 wing, was a backup player for LSU, averaging eight minutes per game. Only once did she start for the Tigers, against South Carolina in the SEC title game.

In the 2023 signing class, ESPN ranked Kent as the 73rd best talent. Mikaylah Williams and Aalyah Del Rosario are the only two players from that round of recruits that are still with LSU.

One transfer, 6-foot-5 forward Jersey Wolfenbarger from Arkansas, has already been signed by the Tigers. It has already lost four scholarship players this offseason: Hailey Van Lith, Angel Reese, Kent, and Velez.

In an attempt to locate a spot for a fifth season of collegiate basketball, Reese entered the WNBA draft while Van Lith used the transfer portal.
