The Carolina Hurricanes secured a 2-1 victory over the Toronto Maple Leafs on Sunday night, extending their impressive run to six wins in seven games. Brady Skjei and Sebastian Aho found the back of the net for the Hurricanes, while Frederik Andersen made 31 saves to maintain his winning streak since returning from injury on March 7. Despite Nicholas Robertson scoring for Toronto and Joseph Woll making 41 saves, the Maple Leafs couldn’t capitalize on their opportunities, finishing 0-for-4 on the power play. The Hurricanes’ defense held strong, even during a late power play and an extra attacker for Toronto, securing the win.

Jonathan Drouin netted his second goal of the game just 54 seconds into overtime, propelling Colorado to a remarkable comeback victory over Pittsburgh after trailing by four goals. Nathan MacKinnon extended his impressive point streak to 18 games with a goal and two assists, maintaining his exceptional form. Sean Walker and Yakov Trenin also contributed goals for Colorado in their ninth consecutive win.

In another game, Ottawa overcame Edmonton with a 5-3 victory, highlighted by defenseman Jakob Chychrun’s decisive power-play goal with just over three minutes remaining. Tim Stutzle and Drake Batherson also found the net for Ottawa, while Zach Hyman scored his 50th goal for Edmonton, supported by Connor McDavid’s two assists.

Meanwhile, Washington secured a 3-0 win over Winnipeg, propelled by Alex Ovechkin’s two goals, bringing his season tally to 26. Charlie Lindgren’s standout performance in goal, stopping all 27 shots, contributed significantly to Washington’s victory, allowing them to reclaim a playoff position.

Lastly, New Jersey dominated the New York Islanders with a 4-0 shutout victory, led by Jack Hughes and Timo Meier’s goal-scoring contributions. Goaltender Kaapo Kahkonen secured his first shutout of the season, making 37 saves for the Devils, while New Jersey captain Nico Hischier returned to action after a collision with Anders Lee.
