After defeating Corentin Moutet, Djokovic was struck in the head by a bottle, leaving him feeling off during his subsequent match. While some speculated about conspiracy theories surrounding the incident, the reality is Djokovic hasn’t been performing at his peak leading up to Roland Garros.

Roddick pointed out that concerns about Djokovic’s form weren’t as prevalent when he was losing earlier in the season. However, as expectations rose for him to excel, his struggles became more pronounced. Roddick suggested that relying on Djokovic’s ability to turn things around can only last for so long, especially considering his current vulnerability and the absence of a new coach after parting ways with half of his team, including Goran Ivanisevic. This has led Roddick to express genuine worry about Djokovic’s tennis game, stating, “I’m more concerned about his tennis game than I’ve been in probably like, 15 years.”

Despite Djokovic’s historical ability to thrive under pressure, Roddick questions how long this mentality can sustain him, particularly given the anticipation for him to elevate his performance leading into significant tournaments like the French Open and Wimbledon, as well as his stated priority of the Olympics. The recent lack of a noticeable improvement in his game has led Roddick to voice his concerns more emphatically.
