SAD NEWS: Patrick Mahomes Sr. Detained for DWI in Texas
This weekend was a difficult blow for the Mahomes family, even as former Texas Tech quarterback Patrick Mahomes II and his team prepare for a huge Super Bowl matchup against Brock Purdy and the San Francisco 49ers.
This was Mahomes’ third arrest for driving under the influence, according to the online records database for Smith County. He was detained on suspicion of operating a vehicle while drunk.
In 2018, Mahomes was charged with his second DWI and, upon entering a guilty plea, was given a 40-day term in county jail. The jail website did not mention the bond for this arrest.
53-year-old Mahomes Sr. participated in 11 MLB seasons, pitching for the Mets in 1999 and 2000.
Patrick Mahomes Sr. must now deal with the legal ramifications of his arrest, but in just seven days, his son, Patrick Mahomes II, will play in Super Bowl 58. The quarterback for the Chiefs will take on Brock Purdy of Iowa State, another former Big 12 quarterback who has emerged as a force in San Francisco.
On Sunday, February 11th, Kansas City and San Francisco will play in the Super Bowl.
