SAD NEWS: Popular Texans and Cowboys reporter Mark Lane dies
This past weekend saw the passing of Mark Lane, a well-liked and respected reporter for the Dallas Cowboys and Houston Texans.
The news of Lane’s passing was verified by BloggingTheBoys.com, a Cowboys fan site that he had contributed to for a long period. But he was also the managing editor of @TheTexansWire and regularly contributed to other Cowboys-related programs and websites. He also supplied other sites with a variety of additional information.
His coworkers at the business recall Lane’s remarkable recall of NFL history. His coworkers remember him as a diligent worker. Writer RJ Ochoa of BloggingtheBoys.com noted that Lane’s generosity truly jumped out.
“Mark’s kindness and humility were even more impressive than his wealth of knowledge,” Ochoa wrote on Sunday. “He constantly tried to assist others and make sure they were given credit for the work they completed.
“Mark Lane has made the world of Dallas Cowboys content and the wider world a better place. We ought to all make an effort to live each day with the same fervor and grace as he did.
Following Lane’s passing, a number of the most well-known NFL media personalities gave him tributes on X (previously Twitter).
Charean Williams of NBC Sports said of Lane, “one of the kindest, gentlest souls I have known.” He had exceptional statistical skills. Mark was among those who were given a terrible hand in life. He defeated childhood cancer and battled valiantly to survive long enough to have a lung transplant.
Veteran Houston Texans beat writer John McClain remembered how Lane persevered in his career despite health problems.
According to McClain, “Mark was always an extremely hard worker who loved covering the NFL.”
“A brilliant, funny, gifted guy who worked so hard despite health issues that would have stopped a lot of people from doing so,” was how Doug Farrar of USA Today described Lane.
