Sad News:Dukes star shooter misses out on NBA draft picks today due to…

It appears highly likely that Duke basketball players Jared McCain and Kyle Filipowski, both of whom spent one and two years respectively at the university, will be selected in the first round of the NBA Draft on June 26. As expected, they are among the 78 players who have been invited to participate in the NBA Draft Combine in Chicago from May 12-19, as announced by the league on Friday.

Additionally, he entered the transfer portal on April 16 before committing to Baylor five days later.

Now, there’s another reason to believe that Roach will withdraw his name from the NBA Draft, possibly well before the NCAA-imposed May 29 deadline to retain eligibility. The 22-year-old, a two-year Duke basketball captain and All-ACC Third Team selection last season, is among more than 100 early draft entrants not included in the list of NBA Draft Combine invites:

The NBA announced today that 78 players have been invited to the 2024 NBA Draft Combine, scheduled to take place from May 12-19 at Wintrust Arena and the Marriott Marquis in Chicago.

Moreover, although they didn’t make the aforementioned list, there’s still a chance for Roach and other players to receive an invitation, as explained by the NBA:

“Furthermore, a limited number of standout players from the 2024 NBA G League Elite Camp, occurring on May 10-11 at Wintrust Arena, will be extended invitations to join the 2024 NBA Draft Combine after the conclusion of that event.”

Jeremy Roach, Jared McCain, and Kyle Filipowski are just three of the nine Blue Devils departing Durham with remaining eligibility this offseason. Similar to Roach, the other six have entered the transfer portal.

Overall, this exodus of talent paves the way for Duke’s highly touted, six-player recruiting class, complementing the returning backcourt duo of Tyrese Proctor and Caleb Foster, as well as two confirmed inbound transfers, Maliq Brown and Mason Gillis.
