The Dallas Morning News provided more details after Overshown left the game, reporting that an MRI was required on Sunday morning to ascertain the extent of the damage he had incurred in the first quarter.

Overshown’s effort to tackle running back Zach Charbonnet on a first-and-ten play from the Seahawks’ own fourth-yard line resulted in a left knee injury.

The child grabbed his knee as soon as he fell, but he managed to get back up and walk off the field by himself. A few minutes later, he was being driven in an injured car to the locker room. The Cowboys at the time said he had a knee problem.

Although the extent of Overshown’s injury was still unknown following the game, head coach Mike McCarthy spoke briefly about the player and conveyed his hope that he would be alright.

He’s enjoyed his camp immensely. It seems like we’ve talked about him nearly every other day. McCarthey said, “I hope he’s alright.

An MRI was performed on Overshown to confirm the injury. Overshown had impressed coaches and teammates before being selected as the 90th overall choice out of the University of Texas in the third round of this year’s NFL Draft. In addition, he seems like a useful addition to the Cowboys’ inside linebacker group, which is now composed of Malik Jefferson, who is currently out with a foot injury, Devin Harper, Leighton Vander Esch, Damone Clark, and Jabril Cox.
