Don Waddell, president of hockey operations and general manager of the Carolina Hurricanes, announced on Tuesday that Scott Morrow and the Canes have reached an agreement on a three-year, entry-level contract.

In 2023–2024, the contract’s average annual value (AAV) will be $807,500 at the NHL level; in 2024–25 and 2025–26, it will be $832,500. In addition to a $277,500 signing bonus, Morrow will get $80,000 at the American Hockey League (AHL) level for each of the three seasons.

The 21-year-old played for the Minutemen for three seasons, scoring 94 points in 109 career NCAA games with 28 goals and 66 assists. During the 2021–22 season, Morrow set a record for goals and points among all Hockey East defensemen, making him a member of the conference’s First All-Star Team and the first freshman in program history to be named to the First Team All-American. At UMass, Morrow is the only defenseman to score 30 points in three separate seasons.

The Darien, Connecticut native played for the Fargo Force of the United States Hockey League (USHL) and Shattuck St. Mary’s Prep School before joining the NCAA. He scored 48 points and had 40 assists in 30 games with Shattuck in 2020–21.
