OGC Nice midfielder Khephren Thuram might be up for grabs at a discounted rate this upcoming summer, following a year filled with speculation about a potential move to Liverpool.

Last summer, the 23-year-old attracted considerable interest, particularly from Liverpool, who were in the midst of restructuring their midfield.

However, Nice’s asking price of €40 million appeared to deter suitors, leading Thuram to remain at the Allianz Riviera for the season.

West Ham also showed interest in Thuram, whom Nice manager Francesco Farioli hailed as ‘the complete midfielder’.

Thuram was viewed as an ideal replacement for Declan Rice, who made a lucrative switch to Arsenal, although West Ham did not follow through on their apparent interest.

Nevertheless, with plans for a summer overhaul underway, West Ham could revisit the possibility of signing Thuram, especially considering reports from French outlet Nice Matin suggesting he could be available for a reduced fee of €15-20 million.

With just one year remaining on his contract, Nice may opt to sell Thuram at a discounted rate rather than risk losing him on a free transfer next year.

West Ham should seize the opportunity presented by Thuram’s availability. While Edson Alvarez has proven to be a valuable addition, Thuram could offer another dimension to the midfield.

Thuram has been a key figure for Nice this season, albeit not matching the heights of the previous campaign when Liverpool expressed interest.

Nevertheless, his performance metrics remain solid. Despite registering only one goal and one assist in 25 league appearances, Thuram has created six significant chances and averages 1.2 key passes per game.

Versatile across various midfield roles, Thuram also contributes defensively with an average of 1.6 tackles, 1.3 clearances, and 4.7 ball recoveries per game.

Should West Ham secure Thuram’s signature, it would be an exciting addition, potentially forming a formidable partnership with Alvarez in midfield.
