Softball Wins Series Against Pitt, 8-1

PITTSBURGH, Pa. – The North Carolina softball team secured their fourth ACC series win of the season with an 8-1 victory over Pitt at Vartabedian Field on Sunday. Sophomore pitcher Kenna Raye Dark (8-3) delivered a stellar performance, allowing just one run and six hits while striking out two in a complete-game effort.

Dark showcased her dominance throughout the series, conceding only three runs in 14 innings across two complete games against Pitt.

Autumn Owen led the offensive charge with three RBIs, including her fourth home run of the weekend, while collecting two hits in the game, bringing her total home run count to 10 for the Tar Heels.

Shortstop Abby Settlemyre was a force at the plate, reaching base in all five at-bats and notching four hits, including two doubles and a home run, along with a walk. She also hit two homers in the series.

Aneshia Jordan contributed with a career-best performance, driving in two runs with a single.

With victories over Virginia, Georgia Tech, Notre Dame, and Pitt, the Tar Heels continue their successful streak in ACC series.

Next up, Carolina will travel to Lynchburg, Va., for a matchup against Liberty on Wednesday at 4 p.m.
