Suprise report from NBA insider counters recent rumors about Paul George’s future

Paul George’s tenure with the Los Angeles Clippers appeared to be coming to an end, but new information suggests that he might return for the upcoming campaign.

The Clippers were among the top teams in the Western Conference NBA Standings for a large portion of the 2023–24 season. But when it mattered most, NBA star Kawhi Leonard had yet another annoying injury, which ultimately led to their elimination in the opening round of the playoffs.

Many now question what will happen to the team in the future. While Paul George, Russell Westbrook, and James Harden are all expected to go free this summer, Leonard is signed to a new long-term contract. The latter is a little unexpected because, at the beginning of the season, every indication seemed to point to George’s return because he and the team were negotiating a new contract.

However, in April negotiations hit a stalemate and rumors began to spread that he and the Philadelphia 76ers had mutual interest and that a move to the Eastern Conference team this offseason was very possible. Furthermore, after being eliminated in the semifinals last week, there has been chatter that the New York Knicks could renew the rumored interest they had in the nine-time All-Star late last year.

Well, a fresh update on the situation will give Los Angeles Clippers fans hope that they can get George back. On a recent edition of “Up and Adams,” NBA insider Shams Charania revealed that there is a notable “belief” around the league that despite the rumblings last month, George is expected to stay put in LA.
