Iga Swiatek has disclosed that consistently defeating Aryna Sabalenka and Elena Rybakina is an ongoing challenge that demands continuous adjustment.

While Swiatek has generally managed to handle both rivals on the WTA Tour, her success rate against Sabalenka is slightly higher than against Rybakina, who recently ended her unbeaten streak at the Porsche Tennis Grand Prix.

Interestingly, Rybakina struggles more with Sabalenka than with Swiatek, while Sabalenka encounters difficulties against the world No. 1 player. With Sabalenka and Swiatek set to face off in the Madrid Open final, Swiatek acknowledges the need for thorough preparation.

Despite her past successes against Sabalenka, Swiatek acknowledges the necessity of strategic planning for each match. She emphasizes the importance of executing these plans effectively during matches.

“I wouldn’t say we’re trying to figure it out because we know how it should play, but it hasn’t been easy to implement at times. So I still feel like I haven’t played that match where you play better tactically from start to finish against these players.”

Swiatek is determined to demonstrate improvements in her approach, particularly in the upcoming final against Sabalenka. Madrid’s court presents a challenging environment for Swiatek, as Sabalenka has previously triumphed in the WTA 1000 event in the Spanish capital, including a victory over Swiatek last year.

Swiatek sees the upcoming final as an opportunity to showcase progress and evolution as a player, recognizing the ongoing nature of improvement in tennis.
