Virginia Tech allocated its last available scholarship to recruit Kaleb Spencer, a linebacker/defensive back hailing from Miami. Spencer, a sophomore with three more years of eligibility, revealed his decision on Saturday. Originally from Gloucester, Virginia, Spencer attended Life Christian Academy, where he earned a three-star rating in the 2023 class and was ranked as the 673rd best player nationally according to 247Sports Composite rankings.

Spencer participated in 11 games during his freshman year with the Hurricanes, primarily contributing on special teams and securing one tackle. He is anticipated to bolster the Hokies’ secondary, filling a need for versatility similar to Derrick Canteen’s role last season. Spencer marks the third transfer acquisition for the Hokies this post-spring, alongside UCLA quarterback Collin Schlee and Alabama defensive lineman Khurtiss Perry.
