Atlanta Braves announced on Saturday morning that Spencer Strider will miss the remainder of the 2024 season due to undergoing surgery to repair the ulnar collateral ligament in his right elbow with an internal brace.

Strider left his last start for the Braves after four innings on April 5 due to elbow discomfort. An MRI the following day revealed damage to the ulnar collateral ligament, leading orthopedic surgeon Dr. Keith Meister to recommend surgery.

Manager Brian Snitker expressed disappointment about the MRI results and the impact on Strider, who had an impressive 20-5 record with 281 strikeouts in 2023.

The Braves, currently leading the NL East with an 8-4 record, will now have to navigate the season without their ace pitcher. Strider joins a growing list of MLB pitchers sidelined with arm injuries, including Gerrit Cole, Max Scherzer, and Jacob deGrom.
