The Cleveland Browns have acquired a promising Pro Bowl quarterback through free agency.

After witnessing the Cleveland Browns cycle through five different starting quarterbacks, general manager Andrew Berry is prioritizing a much stronger quarterback depth chart for 2024. While Deshaun Watson remains firmly entrenched as the starting quarterback, the Browns are bolstering their backup options, moving away from inexperienced players like Dorian Thompson-Robinson, P.J. Walker, and Jeff Driskel, especially after Joe Flacco’s departure to Indianapolis.

The initial addition to the Browns’ quarterback roster was Jameis Winston, who secured a one-year, $4 million contract. However, another Pro Bowl quarterback is now joining him.

As per Browns insider May Kay Cabot, Cleveland is set to sign former Ravens quarterback Tyler Huntley. The specific terms of the agreement have not been disclosed yet.

Huntley has only started nine games over his four-year career. However, due to the flexibility of Pro Bowl voting, the former Ravens quarterback managed to secure a spot as an alternate in 2022 following Lamar Jackson’s injury.

In 2022, Tyler Huntley’s statistics were as follows: a completion rate of 67%, 109.7 passing yards per game (with 22.8 yards per game rushing), 2 touchdowns, and 3 interceptions. Despite his relatively limited experience, this addition may come as a mild surprise for Cleveland, especially considering they selected Dorian Thompson-Robinson as the 140th pick in last year’s NFL Draft. Nonetheless, given the numerous quarterbacks who were thrust into action last season, Heading into the 2024 season with three Pro Bowl quarterbacks on the roster, along with another developmental option, it seems that the Browns are fully prepared at the quarterback position.it’s understandable that the Browns are prioritizing a deep quarterback depth chart.
