According to Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN, the Cleveland Cavaliers have been granted permission to interview David Adelman, an assistant coach for the Denver Nuggets, for their head coaching position. Adelman, aged 43, has been part of the Nuggets organization since 2017 and has previously worked with the Minnesota Timberwolves and Orlando Magic. Notably, he is the son of Rick Adelman, a renowned NBA head coach and Hall of Famer.

Adelman, who has also been considered for the vacant head coaching position with the Los Angeles Lakers, serves as the top assistant under Michael Malone in Denver. Following the conclusion of the Nuggets’ season, Malone praised Adelman, expressing his belief that Adelman is ready to step into a head coaching role.

In addition to Adelman, other known candidates for the Cavaliers’ head coaching job include Kenny Atkinson, James Borrego, Chris Quinn, Micah Nori, and Johnnie Bryant. Adelman is particularly recognized in the league for his offensive strategies, an area where the Cavaliers aim to improve. If the Cavaliers opt for a first-time head coach, Adelman appears to meet several criteria. He’s a promising candidate who is likely to secure a head coaching position, whether in Cleveland this summer or elsewhere in the future, and is anticipated to excel in the role.
