On Saturday, the Detroit Lions initially celebrated what seemed like a stolen victory against the Dallas Cowboys, believing Taylor Decker’s successful two-point conversion had sealed the win in the dying seconds. However, their joy was short-lived as the referees penalized Detroit for an ineligible player on the field. Despite subsequent attempts, including a Micah Parsons offside and an unsuccessful third try, the Dallas Cowboys narrowly emerged victorious with a 20-19 score.

Down 20-13 with less than two minutes left, the Lions, led by Jared Goff, staged a comeback, culminating in an 11-yard Amon Ra-St. Brown touchdown. Goff expressed the disappointment of feeling like they won but didn’t due to the controversial calls.

Referee Brad Allen, in a post-game interview, clarified that Taylor Decker had not properly reported as an eligible receiver, adding to the ongoing controversy. The Cowboys’ win meant they remained undefeated at home for the season and extended their AT&T Stadium winning streak to 16 games.

Ceedee Lamb, the Cowboys’ wide receiver, had a remarkable day, setting a new franchise single-season record with 13 receptions for 227 yards and a touchdown. His highlight was a spectacular 92-yard touchdown, contributing to the team’s success. Lamb acknowledged the defensive efforts and expressed his joy in winning. Both teams secured playoff spots, with the Lions also clinching their first division title in 30 years. The Cowboys, aiming for the NFC East division title, need the Philadelphia Eagles to lose at least once in their final two games.

Looking ahead, the Lions conclude their regular season against the Minnesota Vikings in Week 18, while the Cowboys face the Washington Commanders.
