While acknowledging that his side didn’t create as many opportunities as they would have liked, Cifuentes commended their dedication and defensive organization, which prevented Sunderland from registering a single shot on target. Patterson played a crucial role, making important saves in both halves of the match. He thwarted Lukas Andersen’s attempt after Dan Ballard’s errant pass in the first half and pulled off an even more impressive reflex save to deny Chris Willock late in the game.

Cifuentes acknowledged that his team still faces significant challenges in securing a position above the relegation zone by the end of the campaign. However, he emphasized that they can draw confidence from their solid defensive record and well-organized structure.

Cifuentes expressed satisfaction with his players’ performance and attitude despite missing out on two points. He noted that they had the game under control and effectively prevented Sunderland from registering a shot on goal throughout the 95 minutes. While admitting that his team didn’t create as many scoring opportunities as desired, he believed they generated enough chances to score one or two goals. Cifuentes credited Sunderland’s goalkeeper, Anthony Patterson, for making crucial saves in two key situations, describing them as exceptional.
