A massive cloud of smoke has enveloped Southampton’s St Mary’s Stadium and the surrounding region due to a fire that started nearby.

Billowing from a building near to the stadium on Britannia Road and across the city center is a massive cloud of smoke. Additionally, students at the neighboring St. Mary’s Primary School have been evacuated.

A massive black cloud of smoke can be seen in several films that have been shared on social media. The BBC said that “pops” could be heard and called the fire “immense.”
According to reports, the warehouse on Melbourne Street across from the stadium’s south stand was damaged by the fire. There, firefighters are battling the fire and erecting a cordon. Paramedics treated one person for mild smoke inhalation at the scene.
As the fire tears through what’s left of the abandoned warehouse on the busy industrial park, footage shows the walls collapsing.

“Crews are currently attending a fire in Marine Parade Southampton,” stated a Fire and Rescue incident report.

The first call was received at 13:05. Industrial buildings close to St. Mary’s football stadium are impacted by the fire. Eight fire engines, two aerial ladder platforms, and several specialized equipment are on duty at the moment.Because to the volume of smoke in the region, residents are recommended to keep their doors and windows closed. People are urged to stay away from the area in order to allow emergency vehicles to drive freely on some of the nearby restricted roads.”
The most recent update on the fire visible from the Isle of Wight stated: “More fire engines are on their way to the area to bring the total number of units up to 18. There are now four industrial units affected by the fire. There is a lot of smoke, and locals are urged to close the windows and doors.” Preston North End was scheduled to visit Southampton in the Championship on Wednesday night, but the match has ultimately been postponed, it was revealed.

Preston supporters and players would have already left for the south coast when the game was canceled, given the two venues are separated by a distance of 247 miles
