The Washington Commanders are facing the possibility of losing several defensive players to free agency, including Kendall Fuller and Kamren Curl, who may either join new teams or negotiate new contracts with the Commanders for the 2024-25 season. Fuller, considered one of the top cornerbacks in the market, is attracting attention from various teams, with the Las Vegas Raiders emerging as a potential destination, as suggested by Brad Spielberger of PFF.
Spielberger notes that Fuller’s value has increased following the franchise tags placed on Jaylon Johnson and L’Jarius Sneed, making him the premier cornerback available. Fuller, who seeks his third contract after consistently performing well with over 1,000 snaps played and a 75.0 coverage grade in three consecutive seasons, offers versatility as a former nickel and safety, making him a desirable addition to teams like the Cardinals and Raiders.

Having previously played with the Kansas City Chiefs in the AFC West, Fuller brings familiarity with the division. Spotrac predicts a lucrative four-year, $54.5 million deal for Fuller, reflecting his value similar to that of Darius Slay, James Bradberry, and Cameron Sutton. With $42 million in cap space, the Raiders could benefit from acquiring Fuller to bolster their secondary, especially considering Marcus Peters’ underwhelming performance, Nate Hobbs’ injury concerns, and Jakorian Bennett’s rookie struggles.
Levi Damien of Raiders Wire also identifies Fuller as the top free-agent safety for the Raiders to pursue, highlighting his consistent production and championship experience with the Chiefs. Despite the Commanders’ defensive shortcomings, investing in Fuller could significantly improve their defense, particularly under new head coach Dan Quinn, who emphasizes defensive prowess.
Despite Washington’s defensive struggles, Fuller’s performance has elevated him as the top cornerback prospect, enticing not only the Raiders but also other teams across the league. Jon Conahan, covering the NBA and NFL for Heavy.com, provides insight into Fuller’s potential impact on both the Commanders and prospective teams.
