The Minnesota Vikings are actively searching for their future quarterback, as they’ve been heavily engaged with several top quarterback prospects expected to be drafted in or around the first round of the 2024 NFL Draft on April 25th.

Certainly, the Vikings have been particularly thorough in their evaluation process, especially when it comes to quarterbacks. While quarterback coach Josh McCown attended the pro days of all six top quarterback prospects, other key personnel such as general manager Kwesi Adofo-Mensah and head coach Kevin O’Connell have focused on meeting and working out prospects through top-30 visits or private workouts. This approach allows them more control over the evaluation process, regardless of the position of the prospects.

The Minnesota Vikings are taking a unique approach in their search for a future quarterback. While heavily involved in evaluating top quarterback prospects, they’ve opted for more intimate, one-on-one private workouts instead of attending pro days. This strategy aims to observe prospects in a controlled environment, allowing the Vikings to gauge their abilities more accurately. Football insider Matt Miller praises this unconventional approach, noting that the Vikings have scheduled private workouts with five of the top six quarterback prospects, excluding only Caleb Williams. Recently, the Vikings confirmed a private workout with LSU quarterback Jayden Daniels, further showcasing their commitment to thorough evaluation. These private workouts, spanning three days each, involve Vikings coaches, scouts, and executives traveling extensively to meet with prospects across the country. While there are no guarantees in the draft, the Vikings are leaving no stone unturned in their quest to secure their quarterback of the future.
