Tyrese Maxey is listed as injured for the Sixers as Joel Embiid gets closer to making a comeback.

In advance of their matchup with the Raptors on Sunday, the Sixers have updated their list of injuries. Tyrese Maxey’s status has been reduced to questionable due to soreness in his left hip. He would be on the bench with Joel Embiid, Robert Covington, and De’Anthony Melton if he were to miss tonight’s game.

Maxey’s injury is unknown, however it might be better for him to take the night off. Maxey has played an average of 38 minutes per game in 10 games since his concussion return, and more than 40 minutes in just the last five games. Beyond that time frame, Maxey has been a major contributor for the Sixers in Embiid’s absence. It should be in everyone’s best interest to keep Maxey fresh as the postseason approaches.

The Toronto Raptors, your opponent, must also be taken into consideration. They are now coping with the injuries of multiple important players. Chris Boucher and Scottie Barnes are not playing tonight, while RJ Barrett is dubious. They have taken a fair share of losses and have their sights set on winning the lotto this summer. Remember that the Sixers host the Oklahoma City Thunder on Tuesday in a difficult contest.

In other news, Jeff Dowtin Jr. and Ricky Council IV, who both participated in the Delaware Blue Coats regular season finale, have been called up by the Sixers. If Maxey can’t make it, there’s a high chance we’ll see one or both of them at tonight’s game.

Watch Maxey’s condition before Sunday’s 6 p.m. tip-off, as the Sixers may be exercising caution or it might be a covert case of load management.
