The San Francisco 49ers haven’t publicly stated that Brandon Aiyuk is available for trade, but there’s buzz around the league indicating he might be on the trade block. Despite the 49ers expressing last month that they don’t intend to trade Aiyuk, negotiations for a long-term deal reportedly aren’t progressing well.

Aiyuk desires compensation fitting of a top-tier receiver, around $30 million annually, a figure the 49ers aren’t ready to commit to yet. Considering the impending contract extension for quarterback Brock Purdy in 2025, the 49ers face tough decisions about retaining key players. While the Pittsburgh Steelers have been mentioned as a potential trade partner, former teammate Kendrick Bourne has reached out to Aiyuk, expressing interest in reuniting in New England.

The Patriots, with their anticipated selection of a quarterback in the draft, could benefit from Aiyuk’s talents, especially considering his successful seasons with Purdy in 2022 and 2023. The hypothetical scenario of the 49ers trading Aiyuk for the 34th overall pick from the Patriots is plausible given the current circumstances.
