Hibs, who are now in sixth place and one game clear of Dundee in seventh, are struggling to stay in the top half before the split. In this stage of the season, there are just a handful of games left, and Hibs, in particular, have everything on the line. While you wait for the international break, we have compiled all the latest information about the two Edinburgh clubs and their competitors.

Tam McManus, a former player for Hibernian, has advocated for the club to focus on recruiting players from Scotland this upcoming summer, highlighting potential targets in his column for the Daily Record.

Expressing his concern, he stated, “I sincerely hope Hibs don’t overlook the talent readily available within the country.” He drew attention to recent moves by rival club Hearts, noting, “While I dislike drawing parallels with our rivals, Hearts have made some astute signings this week by securing some of the Premiership’s finest on pre-contracts. Hibs ought to seek out the next Kevin Nisbet, players of similar caliber are certainly within reach.”

McManus emphasized the importance of maintaining a Scottish presence within the team, particularly with the likely departures of key figures such as David Marshall, Paul Hanlon, and Lewis Stevenson. He remarked, “Having a core group of Scottish players is crucial for the club’s identity. Whether they hail from Mars or elsewhere, fans prioritize success on the pitch. However, it’s imperative to maintain a Scottish essence within the squad.”

Highlighting potential targets performing admirably in the top flight, McManus mentioned players like Danny Armstrong of Kilmarnock and Luke McCowan of Dundee. He described them as possessing the “x factor” and being precisely the caliber of players Hibs should be pursuing. However, he acknowledged the challenge posed by their existing contracts and potential costs, suggesting they might be difficult to acquire.

“You should never write off going to the Championship to locate pearls if that involves doing so. Just keep in mind the impression that Nisbet left after arriving from Dunfermline. I’ve known for a while that Hibs should be watching these two players right away.

“Liam McStravick at Airdrie and Aidan Fitzpatrick at Partick Thistle. I’m aware that Kris Doolan and Rhys McCabe would not like my efforts to market their skills, but they might be persuaded to accept a good offer.”
