TRANSFER NEWS: Sunderland is considering loaning out their goalkeeper.

Goalkeeper Adam Richardson may be loaned out by Sunderland, according to a Sunderland Echo report.
Sunderland is considering temporarily loaning the young player to another team.

The 20-year-old Richardson signed a new deal last summer that would stretch until the summer of 2026.

The Sunderland Echo has the most recent information on his predicament, stating that the Championship team is “considering” let him to go so he can receive some playing time.

Richardson would benefit from a loan exit in order to gain experience and consistent minutes to further his development.

Given that Nathan Bishop and Anthony Patterson are currently ahead of him in the Sunderland starting lineup, his prospects of cracking the first squad at the Stadium of Light are currently quite slim.

After the January transfer window closes, he will only be eligible to sign with teams in the National League or lower.

The goalkeeper came up through Sunderland’s academy systems and has been a part of the team for his entire career.

Although he has been a consistent player for the North East team at several minor levels in recent years, he has not yet appeared for their senior squad. The former England under-21 international has so far made eight appearances for their team.

Sunderland’s form has recently declined after they were defeated 2-1 at home by Swansea City. Michael Beale has been replaced by Mike Dodds for the remainder of the current campaign.

Eight points outside of the playoffs, the Black Cats now sit in 10th place in the standings. They still have 12 games to play, beginning this weekend on the road against Norwich City.
