At a press conference on Saturday at 11 a.m., Michigan will formally unveil Sherrone Moore as the football program’s 21st head coach.
Moore will make an opening speech and field questions from the media during the event. We might also hear from other members of the U-M administration or the football team on what made Moore the best person for the position, in addition to hearing from AD Warde Manuel about the hiring procedure.
The Big Ten Network will carry live coverage of the press conference beginning at 11 a.m. Throughout the morning, The Michigan Insider will be present to give coverage.
On Friday night, Moore was named Jim Harbaugh’s replacement.
Through a news statement, Moore stated, “I want to thank Coach Harbaugh for the faith that he has displayed in me over the past six years and for supporting my growth as a football coach during that time.” “I am grateful to Warde Manuel, the athletic director, for believing in me to take over as this football program’s next leader. I express my gratitude to President Santa Ono and the Board of Regents members for their unwavering belief in my abilities. As the next leader of the program, I am thrilled to return that faith and confidence.
Moore continued, “I can’t think of a better place to be head coach than at the University of Michigan. I have been preparing my entire coaching career for this opportunity.” “As a TEAM, we will exert every effort every day to uphold the 144-year tradition of championship football played at Michigan. We won’t be lowering our standards. We will be a championship-caliber football team that is intelligent, resilient, tenacious, passionate, and plays with a winged helmet, each other, and the game. We’ll keep striving for success in the classroom, in our communities, and off the field. I’m eager to get started in this new position with our staff, coaches, and players.
In a news statement, Warde Manuel stated the following:
Sherman has shown to be an excellent leader for our football team, particularly for the offensive line and offensive players, according to Manuel. He is a vibrant, ferocious, and competitive person who brings out the best in the athletes he coaches. The players enjoy spending every day in the building with him and performing for him.
Manuel continued, “This fall, Sherman stepped up and filled in as the interim head coach when the program and especially the team needed him.” “Sherrone’s handling of that circumstance cemented my already developing faith in him. He always made it about the team, never about himself! We are overjoyed that Sherrone, his spouse Kelli, and the entire Moore family will be taking on this new responsibility for the university community and football department.
We anticipate hearing from Moore at his news conference on Saturday regarding his goals for his first few months as the Michigan football coach, changes he hopes to implement within the team, his thoughts on becoming the school’s first permanent Black football coach, and much more.
