About to begin his third season with the Crows, the forward/midfielder

Josh Rachele, an Adelaide forward/midfielder, feels he has made significant progress during preseason in changing his approach to stay focused.

And the 20-year-old believes that in order to get to the next level of his game in 2024, this mental transformation will be essential.

In a media interview, Rachele gave credit for the shift to working with new Crows Performance Psychologist Rosie Stanimirovic, stating that she has provided him with an abundance of tools to advance.

The Crows would benefit greatly from Stanimirovic’s experience working with professional athletes, according to Rachele. Stanimirovic worked with the Australian Institute of Sport, GWS, and the Australian Sailing Team, attending three Olympic Games.

In the beginning of the preseason, I worked quite closely with Stanimirovic and she helped me see a few small things that helped me change my perspective during games. She has been amazing for me, said Rachele.

“Still, it’s nearly hard to maintain concentrate over an AFL game’s 120 minutes, so it’s been a major goal for me to be able to do that as often as feasible.

The staff has collaborated closely with her, and we have held frequent sessions with her.

Rachele declared that this pre-season had been the best one yet as he got ready to start his third AFL season. This was the greatest training block he has completed since coming to West Lakes.

“The primary objective was accomplished as I completed every training session,” Rachele stated.

“During your first year, you participate in a lot of drills and have a lighter workload than the other players on the squad.

This was my first full pre-season because I was still having some hip problems from my sophomore year.

“The team is looking really good, and I’ve had a great off-season with a lot of the guys. As you can see, we have a lot of guys pushing for spots right now.”

After completing the preseason, Rachele expressed his desire to perform consistently each week and learn from the Club’s leaders about how to advance as a football player.

The young player stated, “My goal for this year is just to be a consistent football player; I think I can play at the level.”

“I think it’s something that we all want to incorporate into our games to be consistent AFL players. You see guys like Lairdy and Dawson, these guys who are consistent, and being able to pick their brains has been massive for a lot of us younger guys’ development.”
