On Wednesday, National Signing Day, Arizona addressed a position of need at cornerback.

Johno Price, a 6-2, 175-pound junior college cornerback at College of San Mateo in Northern California, where he was teammates with another UA signee and edge rusher Cyrus Durham, was signed by the Wildcats.

Price, a native of Menlo Park, California, chose to sign with the Wildcats over Bowling Green and San Jose State. Chip Viney, the current coach of the UA cornerbacks, recruited Price to SJSU.

“Johno is a young kid who is coming from a great program to us, very instinctive, long, can run and comes from a great tutelage,” Viney said on Arizona’s X account on Wednesday. “Like I said, he comes from a great program and is coached very well. The thing I love about him is he’s all about ball.”

After the Wildcats lost starting cornerback Ephesians Prysock to Washington and Tacario Davis to the transfer portal, Price strengthens Arizona’s depth at the position. Davis may be able to return on Tuesday when the portal closes for UA players. Along with previous head coach Jedd Fisch and cornerbacks coach John Richardson, Rahim Wright, a former signee of Arizona, and Jordan Shaw, a transfer from Indiana, also went to Washington. Rahshawn Clark, a four-star cornerback and Seattle product, is anticipated to sign with Washington.

Arizona’s alternatives at cornerback include nickel back Treydan Stukes, redshirt freshman Jai-Ayviauynn Celestine, freshman Emmanuel Karnley, and Price if Davis, who led the Pac-12 in pass breakups, decides not to rejoin the Wildcats.
