Manchester United has been informed that they must shell out £140 million to secure the services of Victor Osimhen in the upcoming summer transfer window. This follows an agreement to acquire Osimhen’s Napoli teammate, Kim Min-jae.

Osimhen stands out as a prime target for United, holding the coveted position at the top of the club’s list of desired strikers. The club’s interest in the Nigerian striker dates back to the previous summer, with United scouts attending Napoli’s Champions League clash against Milan last month. Meanwhile, Kim Min-jae, also a Napoli player, has made the decision to join United despite having recently moved to Naples. The South Korean played a pivotal role in Napoli’s successful Serie A title-winning campaign, and his contract includes a £43 million release clause. According to reports from Naples-based Il Mattino, a deal for Kim is already in place, with the only requirement being the payment of his release clause. Napoli has already identified Kevin Danso of Lens as Kim’s replacement.

Securing a deal for Osimhen is more complex, as there is no release clause in place. However, Napoli does not consider him one of their ‘untouchable’ players. The club has been contemplating the potential sale of the Nigerian since the previous summer, and the loan signings of Giacomo Raspadori and Giovanni Simeone were made to mitigate the potential impact of Osimhen’s departure.

While not a definite conclusion this summer, Napoli president Aurelio De Laurentiis is open to authorizing the sale if an offer exceeding £140 million is presented. Negotiations could potentially lower this figure if Napoli’s stance changes. De Laurentiis has identified Khvicha Kvaratskhelia and Stanislav Lobotka as the two players who are non-negotiable transfers this year, considering their indispensable roles in the system and squad. Osimhen expressed in March that playing in the Premier League is his “dream,” and in response to increased speculation, United has dispatched scouts to monitor the striker’s performances. The striker emphasized his commitment, stating, “Playing in one of the top five leagues in the world is an amazing feeling for me. While many consider the Premier League the best and strongest league worldwide, I am currently in one of the best leagues globally, the Italian Serie A. I am diligently working towards achieving my dream of playing in the Premier League someday. It’s a process, and I aim to maintain this positive momentum and continue performing well.”
