TRENDING: NBA veteran has terminated his contract with Russian club

After all, a veteran of the Denver Nuggets will not be wearing a uniform in Russia.

This week, CSKA Moscow declared the cancellation of their contract with former NBA swingman Will Barton. The club also notes that Barton has since returned to the United States and that the termination was justified by a stipulation in the contract.

According to Eurohoops, Barton failed his medical exams, which is what caused the contract to collapse.

Barton’s season-long addition was revealed at the end of January by CSKA Moscow, the most successful team in Russia and among the best in all of Europe.

Barton is primarily known for his time with the Nuggets. He is an 11-year NBA veteran who has played for four different clubs. From 2015 to 22, he was a standout player off the bench for Denver, finishing in the top four many times when voting for Sixth Man of the Year.

Following that, Barton moved into a starting position with the Nuggets, staying with them for their 2021 and 2022 postseason runs. However, he was not retained for their 2023 NBA championship, as Denver transferred him to Washington in the previous offseason in exchange for Kentavious Caldwell-Pope.

Although CSKA Moscow has frequently pursued former NBA depth players, Barton’s contract is technically over.
