It is anticipated that the 2024 free agency class will be stacked with talent. Potentially speaking, two-time Pro Bowler Saquon Barkley stands out on the list because he hasn’t signed a new contract with the New York Giants.

There’s still a good chance Barkley works things out with the Giants and returns to the team the following year. But, you can be certain that teams from all around the NFL are already closely monitoring his circumstances in light of the potential departure from New York.

Will Saquon Barkley Leave the New York Giants?

Barkley has already stated quite clearly that he would prefer to stay in New York if it were up to him. But money talks at the end of the day.

While talks on a new contract are ongoing, Barkley may soon be eligible for free agency, according to a number of reports. Barkley will be a free agent unless both sides reach an agreement, as the Giants are reportedly not planning to apply the franchise tag to the 27-year-old for a second straight season.

It appears that Barkley and the Giants are still a long way from coming to an understanding at this time.

Barkley Could Be Signed by Ravens and Bears in Free Agency

If Barkley does decide to test the market, Bleacher Report’s Alex Ballentine has already sketched up a few possible landing spots. The Chicago Bears and the Baltimore Ravens are two of those teams.

Ballentine contends that Baltimore would benefit greatly from a Lamar Jackson and Saquon Barkley combination. Barkley would probably thrive in the Ravens’ system as they are still among the best rushing teams in the whole NFL.

With 821 yards on 148 carries, Jackson led the team. However, as he ages, it’s reasonable to question whether the Ravens should reduce Jackson’s rushing workload. One way to accomplish that, according to Ballentine, would be to pair him with a talented running back.

The Bears might also decide to move. With the first pick in the upcoming NFL Draft, they will probably choose between Drake Maye and Caleb Williams in an attempt to replace Justin Fields. Chicago might become a serious contender in 2024 if Barkley is added to a revamped offensive scheme.

“With Williams or Maye at the center, Barkley would be an upgrade and should command a high-volume role in an offense that could explode,” Ballentine said.

A star like Barkley’s arrival will help many teams, including the Bears and the Ravens. However, you could probably say the same thing about every other NFL team given his skill and contributions.
