TRENDING NEWS: New York Yankees Trio Strengthens Top 10 Rankings With Star Power

The New York Yankees boast a star-studded roster, as evident in the recently concluded MLB.com and MLB Network’s Top 10 Right Now series. The rankings showcased the Yankees’ dominance in certain positions, with two players securing the top spot and another landing at third. However, beyond this trio, the team faces a need for improvement, especially when compared to the Houston Astros, who had eight players featured in the Top 10 across various positions.

Aaron Judge emerged as the top-ranked center fielder, with his impressive performance despite missing some time due to a toe injury last year. Judge managed to hit 37 home runs and even surpassed Roger Maris’ American League record with 62 home runs in the 2022 season. MLB is anticipating Judge’s move to center field after the acquisition of Juan Soto, who will play right field for the Yankees.

Juan Soto, the Yankees’ new right fielder, secured the No. 3 ranking at his position. Interestingly, Soto was the No. 2 ranked left fielder in the previous season. His placement places him behind Ronald Acuña Jr. of the Atlanta Braves and Kyle Tucker of the Houston Astros.

Gerrit Cole, the Yankees’ starting pitcher, achieved the No. 1 ranking at his position. Cole, who won the American League Cy Young in 2023, showcased a remarkable performance, leading the AL in various categories such as ERA, ERA+, innings pitched, and percentage of runners left on base.

The rankings, compiled by the MLB Network research team, were based on comprehensive data, including past player performance, offensive and defensive metrics, and a combination of advanced and traditional statistics. Despite the Yankees’ notable representation in certain positions, there is room for improvement across the roster, especially compared to teams like the Houston Astros.
