The NBA unveiled its list of 78 players invited to the NBA Draft Combine, which includes notable names like Kevin McCullar and Johnny Furphy from Kansas, along with former Jayhawk and Grand Canyon player Tyon Grant-Foster.

The Combine is scheduled from May 12-19 in Chicago, where prospective draftees will undergo athletic tests and drills in front of NBA scouts, coaches, and general managers. The 2024 NBA Draft is slated for June 26-27. Furphy and McCullar’s invitations come as no surprise, as both are projected as late first-round picks in most NBA mock drafts. Participants in the event are selected through votes by NBA teams.

For the past two weeks, Furphy has been training in Chicago alongside other draft-eligible players represented by Priority Sports. Last season, he averaged 9.0 points and 4.8 rebounds and earned a spot on the Big 12’s all-freshman team. As an early entrant for the draft, the 19-year-old Australian has until 10:59 p.m. Central on May 29 to withdraw his name and maintain his college eligibility. At the moment, Furphy’s decision remains uncertain. His father, Richard, mentioned to The Star on Wednesday that his son is considering the possibility of returning to KU basketball next season.

In the meantime, McCullar, whose final season with the Jayhawks was shortened by a bone bruise in his left knee, had an average of 18.3 points, 6.0 rebounds, and 4.3 assists last year. He earned an honorable mention for All-America by the AP.
