The Wisconsin Badgers men’s basketball team has surged to No. 6 in the AP Poll, a significant improvement since last season when they missed the NCAA tournament. The rise in the rankings is attributed to standout performances by AJ Storr and Max Klesmit, who have filled crucial roles for the team. Returning players like Steven Crowl, Tyler Wahl, and Chucky Hepburn have also provided consistency.

Compared to the same point last season, the Badgers have drastically improved with a 16-4 overall record and an 8-1 record in the Big Ten, cutting losses by 50% and doubling conference wins. The offensive dominance is evident, with an average of 76.0 points per game compared to 65.3 points last season.

Noteworthy is the Badgers’ success against opponents they struggled with last year, such as a 16-point win against Nebraska (previously a 10-point loss) and an 11-point road victory over Ohio State, a team that eliminated them from the Big Ten Tournament last season.

AJ Storr, a sophomore and Saint John’s transfer, has been a key addition, leading the team with an average of 15.9 points per game. Max Klesmit has also stepped up, contributing significantly in recent games and leading in three-pointers with 33 for the season.

The Badgers’ success is attributed to the combination of Storr and Klesmit’s performances, along with consistent high-level play from the entire team. Their impressive ranking positions them well for a high seed in the upcoming NCAA tournament.

Looking ahead, the Badgers will face Nebraska on Thursday, aiming to avenge last year’s loss and continue their strong push toward March.
