The San Antonio Spurs have the chance to bring the past and the future together this summer through free agency.

The Los Angeles Lakers’ LeBron James will make a significant choice that will affect this year’s free agency. Will he take his talents elsewhere or decline his player option to stay with the Lakers?

According to Bleacher Report, LeBron might choose to join the Spurs if he decides to leave the Lakers.

The San Antonio Spurs have almost $30 million in cap space. Bleacher Report claims that with a little creativity or via a sign-and-trade involving Keldon Johnson, they would be able to get a max-level talent. And just for a moment, contemplate how LeBron’s presence on the squad might hasten Victor Wembanyama’s progress. He’d soon find a solution to San Antonio’s (often self-inflicted) point guard problem and give Wemby a close-up look at the recipe for dealing with overblown hype.

With LeBron’s arrival and his partnership with Wembanyama, the Spurs are now a serious threat in the Western Conference. They’re not a team that is expected to finish last for the third consecutive season, despite the fact that they’re not even close to being a contender.

Playing alongside LeBron would not only provide Wemby access to over two decades of winning and league image experience, but it would also help him get ready to succeed “The King” when he departs the NBA in the coming years.

The worst case scenario, however improbable, is that LeBron declines.
