On Wednesday at Ball Arena, the Kings have the opportunity to finish the season sweep of the reigning NBA champion Denver Nuggets, but one of their finest players may not be available.

Due to a left knee contusion, All-NBA point guard De’Aaron Fox of the Kings (33-24) is listed as questionable. After colliding knees with a player during Monday’s 121-110 loss to the Miami Heat, Fox hobbled to his feet.

Even though Fox was obviously uncomfortable, he continued to play. Despite making seven turnovers, he finished with 27 points, eight rebounds, six assists, and three steals.

The Nuggets (39-19) are virtually unstoppable. Following surgery on his left knee during the summer, Vlatko Cancar has missed the entire season. With just nine games played so far this season, rookie forward Hunter Tyson’s status is uncertain because of a sprained finger.

This season, Sacramento is 3-0 against Denver. The Kings defeated the Nuggets on December 2, 123-117; on February 9, 135-106; and on February 14, 102-98.

SACRAMENTO SCOUTING

With the Phoenix Suns in a half-game lead for the No. 6 seed, Sacramento is presently ranked seventh in the Western Conference.

At Crypto.com Arena in Los Angeles on Sunday, the Kings defeated the Los Angeles Clippers 123-107 on the road to record one of their best victories of the year. But they lost on Monday to a Miami squad that was severely shorthanded, without Tyler Herro, Jimmy Butler, Terry Rozier, and a number of other players.

Fox is averaging 4.2 rebounds, 5.6 assists, 1.9 steals, and 26.9 points. The average for Domantas Sabonis is 20.0 points, 13.2 rebounds, and 8.5 assists. In terms of rebounds, double-doubles (53), and triple-doubles (21), Sabonis leads the league. He’s scored 40 double-doubles in a row. Along with Wilt Chamberlain, Elvin Hayes, Moses Malone, Walt Bellamy, Bob Pettit, Elgin Baylor, Jerry Lucas, Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, and Kevin Love, he is one of only ten players in NBA history to record 40 straight double-doubles in a single season.

Sixth Man of the Year candidate Malik Monk (15.1 ppg), Keegan Murray (15.0 ppg), Harrison Barnes (12.2 ppg) and Kevin Huerter (11.1 ppg) are also scoring in double figures for Sacramento.

SCOUTING DENVER Denver is third in the West, 1 ½ games behind the Minnesota Timberwolves and Oklahoma City Thunder.

Since the All-Star break, the Nuggets have defeated the Golden State Warriors 119-103, the Portland Trail Blazers 127-112, and the Washington Wizards 130-110.

The two-time MVP Nikola Jokic shoots 35.1% from three-point range and 58.3% from the field while averaging 26.1 points, 12.3 rebounds, and 9.3 assists. Jamal Murray shoots 41% from outside the arc and averages 20.6 points, 3.9 rebounds, and 6.4 assists.

With 6.9 attempts per game, Michael Porter Jr. is shooting 39.1% from 3-point range and 47.3% from the field, averaging 16.2 points and 7.1 rebounds. For the Nuggets, other important players include Reggie Jackson (10.7 ppg, 3.9 apg), Kentavious Caldwell-Pope (9.9 ppg), and Aaron Gordon (13.8 ppg, 6.5 rpg, 3.1 apg).
