The number of times Victor Wembanyama attends All-Star Weekend keeps rising. He was selected for the Panini Rising Stars Challenge, which pits teams of NBA rookies, sophomores, and G League players against each other, after having previously declared his intention to compete in the Skills Challenge.

The Spurs press release states:

Victor Wembanyama of the San Antonio Spurs is one of the 28 players that have been selected by the NBA to participate in the 2024 Rising Stars. The yearly showcase, which includes three games and a mini-tournament involving four teams, will broadcast live on TNT on Friday, February 16 at 8 p.m. CT.

Wemby has made 41 starts since the San Antonio Spurs selected him first overall. In 28.6 minutes, he averages 20.6 points, 10.1 rebounds, and 3.12 blocks—the highest total in the NBA. Victor is the best rookie in every division.

In a game against the Detroit Pistons on January 10, he recorded a triple-double with zero turnovers, making him the youngest player in NBA history. He finished with 16 points, 12 rebounds, and 10 assists in 21 minutes. He is the first rookie in the NBA this season with at least 800 points, 400 rebounds, and 120 blocks. He has recorded seven games with at least 20 points and five blocks, which is the most in the league.

Since the event’s beginning in 1994, Wemby has been selected to Rising Stars 11 times in Spurs history; the most recent selection was Jeremy Socham, who was notably left off of the Sophomore list. Four seven-player teams, selected by honorary coaches such as former Spur Pau Gasol, will comprise the format. The format is explained in greater detail below.
